Watching this video is this first time I realized that maybe I don't totally suck at fly fishing. I only false cast to 1. Get my line out. 2. Dry my dry fly. 3. Line up and aim the cast. When I take people out who are new to this, I always emphasize that they don't need to cast so much. All it does is increase the chance of getting snagged or scaring fish. But inevitably they wave that rod like 10 times.

Huge take on the false cast.

I fish saltwater, more than one false cast is too many. When I do freshwater fish, one to two false casts to get the proper distance, and land the fly. The longer the line is in the air🕐🕜🕝, the better chance to f it up.

Light Bulb is the best saltwater fly I’ve ever used. Tom does a great job tying them. Just returned from Alaska and caught everything from Pike to Grayling on that pattern.

In Europe everyone reels with the left hand. Doesn’t matter if you’re right or left handed. Only time when I switched my retrieve is when I had a tennis arm injury and taught myself to cast with the left hand as I couldn’t even properly hold a bottle anymore so I had to stick with the hard work for my left arm.

I'm reasonably sure that grizzly bear isn't a fish species and can't be caught on a fly rod. Unless you have a death wish.

I never comment on YT but this is the Hugest Huge video on the Huge channel (and I have watched them all) and I just had to say something! I live just a couple hours from the everglades entrance and fish it many many times a year. Finding the fish can be like going to hell and back but it is worth it. It is such a special place and you did it justice with this video. Lets keep the glades HUGE!

I’m not anywhere near a pro but I know that you can put your rod tip in the water when you have a lot of slack which will create drag and put tension on the fish. Hope this helps some people. 👍

Been fly fishing for 50+ years (mostly western trout, plus plenty of bonefish/flats trips and salmon snagging in AK), but only been working hard on my carp game for the past 3-4 years. They never cease to amaze and frustrate me. Luckily I can drive 5 minutes, fish 2 hours in a peaceful mud flat, maybe catch one and harass several others, and it's made my day. Love it! Great video.
